5.1 Surround

Hey guys im looking to put surround sound in my tahoe with screens in the back of the head rests. What do you guys recommend for a Head Unit, Amp, Speakers, Screens or different methods of doing it. Should i put a screen in the dash or just put a player. Tell me what you guys think.

I would do a screen in the dash and add the outboard surround processor. There is so many variables in your system it is not even funny. Do you have a budget for this? Good equipment or run of the mill meat and potatoes?

Honestly, this is not something that one can just sit down and come up with a quick idea. There are so many options available and it all depends on the investment that you want to make into the system. Who will be doing the install for example? Are you after a tonally balanced system, a system that can lay waste to your neighbours neighbours neighbour? So much to ask that I cannot just sit down and design a low, mid and high end system. Add me to msn, forbidden@telus.net, it is far easier to talk in real time. I have done multiple full surround systems in vehicles before, some over the $20K mark, some under, all depends on the customer.

Ok i definately get you point 20K is not what i am looking for. This system is for the kids to watch on road trips. I was thinking about getting just a dvd head unit and two screens for the head rests. As for the 5.1 i was thinking about using the Alpine MRA-F350 and run components in the front doors, coaxs in the back doors, a sub in the back, and mounting a centre speaker in the middle of the dash. What am i missing or doing wrong or better ways to do it.

If your around Saskatoon I'd recommend Blaine at audio express on 8th street. He will make the time to sit down with you and work something out that might suit your needs..

I know at least one brand he has in stock that has everything you need.

Let him know I sent ya

You really need to sit down with someone and see what you do and do not need to make it work for you.
