Do you guys think it's better to have 1 5/6 channel amp rather then 2 seperate amps? (In terms of practality and space, rather then looks)

I love my 5 channel amp, it's awesome. compared to having 2 seperate amps, it's a lot easier to wire, and to set up.

I know the Directed 5 channels (and i think the JL) are 2 "seperate" amps in one chassis - Class a/b for highs and class d for sub.

So, id say its not gonna make much of a difference either way, aside from looks and price.

The major problem with many 5/6 channel amps is that they use a single power supply to drive all the channels, the DLS has 2 seperate supplies, as do most decent 5/6 channel units.

I have a Phoenix Gold Route 66 and it is just two amp in one. it is just easy to wire and looks good. Usually takes up less space.

5-Channel amps are great for saving space in many different vehicles, and most of the multi channel amps out there are quite good.

And depending on how fussy you are - they can give you plenty of power and great sound quality too.

What kind of $ figure are you willing to spend ??

How much space do you have to work with ??

What part of Vancouver are you from ??

In Vancouver give Speaker City (604) 736-2077 or Axis Audio (604) 738-2947 a call.
In Burnaby give Audiolines (604) 421-1060 a call.
Richmond.....call Boyz Audio (604) 821-0093
Coquitlam Area......call Cartunes (604) 942-1686

They have the Audison line of amplifiers and should be able to accomodate you !! Talk about your space savers !!!!!!!

Good Luck !!
