50amps to run amp?
My brother gave me a MA Audio HK102SX amp as a b-day gift.
Now he says it needs 50 amps to run at the rms, only 30 to turn on though.
So how can I wire it up to run at 50 amps?
It's going into my 94 Grand Cherokee.

well doest that mean your batt/alternator have to put out at least 50amps ..im pritty sure your cherokee has more than a 50amp alternator. I think mines a 70amp and thats pritty low. you should be fine...anyone correct me if im wrong.
run a 4ga power wire from the battery, make sure you fuse it properly within close proximity of the battery. that should get you the most output from your amp, also make sure to have a good ground. if you want more juice on tap bump up to 2ga, do the big 3 upgrade and bump up your battery.
I have the same amp in my Jeep Comanche, exactly the same as a Cherokee, and I have no problems. I would recomend upgrading the ground from the battery to the frame though. It made a big differnce on my vehicle. I do find that the MA Audio amp draws alot of current to make the wattage it claims.

Cool thanks guys.
The MJ is a bit different from a ZJ though but all Jeeps are very similar mechanically.
I just have to find a good ground for it inside the truck. I'll do the big 3 upgrade however the wire going from the alternator lead has a link on it, not sure how to discribe it and it's dark so I can't get a pic. It's a link to disconnect the it quickly from the fuse box.
I've got some 4ga wire and some nice Rockford RCAs sitting around from another system in an old car.
