Just got my caravan on the road today. However, after drooling over how much room I have for my subs, I looked up front and realize I have some work to do. I want to go with a 61/2 inch comp set (cdt probably), but I only have 51/4 dash speakers. What are my possible options for getting some 6 1/2s up front? I aint looking for anything cosmetically pleasing, just has to work.

What about mounting them in your doors, no factory provisions there?

There is no mounting location in the doors, hence the problem. As far as cdt, ive heard good things about them for cost to performance. I need a fairly loud set of comps with a smooth tweet and good midbass. Thinking of an ef-61 set. Might also entertain the idea of an 8 inch midbass since I will be going with 2 15's and 2000rms or so.

If you're also considering 8" mid-bass, it might be an idea to stick with the 5-1/4" in the dash (components or co-axial) plus 8" mid-bass in the kick panels?

I dont want to work with the dash too much. I would rather modify my doors before I worked with the dash. Any way I could build some small sealed boxes for my 6 1/2s and mount the tweet on the door or something like that. Kickpanels are kinda sketchy especially since the floor gets so wet with winters.

when I did the stereo on my voyager(same thing) I mounted the bigger speakers up fromunder the dash that way I didn't have to do any mods to the dash and it worked fine.
Try that
