Hey guys, thanks for all of your help!! I saw yesterday that there were only 2 semi warm days before jack frost struck so I got my stuff together and threw this together! The car is a 2000 jetta... I started from scratch yesterday so I think it went well for 2 full days of work!

MTX amps only because the color matched with the theme I wanted, JL 15w0 sub and infinity referances in the doors... Only problem now is that the whole freakin car rattles and when your outside it sounds like **** but inside it is pounding!!! lol I have ordered 100 square feet of sound deadening but I guess I wont be able to get it installed untill spring... Anyone know how much stereo shops charge to install sound deadening in the 4 doors and lid of the trunk?!?

Is there anything else I should be doing to keep my car from sounding like a tin can on the outside??? LOL I know the doors in the jetta are notorious for rattling... If i sound deaden the doors and trunk is that what you need to do to stop the vibrating metal sounds?!?!?

ZachCHartwell 01-13-2004 01:04 PM

I love Jettas and yours looks very good. Do you have any interior pictures as well? I'd love to get a TDI after college sometime...

Flow2Dirty 01-13-2004 01:27 PM

Thanks Zach! I dont have any interior shots yet.. .I just bought the car a couple of weeks ago... The gauges and everything at night look awesome, I will take some pictures of the interior with the head unit installed for you tonight and post them here!

100sqft of deadening will certainly help! Also the licence plate usually rattles on most cars. Apply some weatherstripping stuff to the back cna fix that. Listen to where rattles are coming from then get on it.

Beauty install

Thanks Gene!! I am definatly going to get some sound deadening installed ASAP!! As for locating the rattles, I thinks thats going to be hard since when I step outside of the car it sounds like the whole thing is rattling.. hah hah!! Well actually I think its mostly the doors (they even rattled just when I installed my mids) and the trunk is rattling a little... I will definatly fix my license plate up tommorow, thanks for the tips!! :D

How come the rca on the RT251 and one on the crossover aren't through the mounting board like the others?

And didn't I tell you to get out there one day last week around 2am to finish the install before it got cold? :D

BTW, High of -15c tomorrow with snow.

Flow2Dirty 01-13-2004 06:20 PM

hah hah yeah indeed you did!!! Actually I didnt start the install untill yesterday, finished almost everything but pulling the wires and installing the sub... Today took me like 5 hours to pull the wires and pull those doors off THAT YOU TOLD ME TO PULL off last week and good thing you told me to because 3 of 4 door speakers were wired backwards... LOL!! I installed an additional 3/4" spacer on top of the 3/4" I already had on there and it made a huge differance in sound in the mids aswell! Maybe it had something to do with the magnet not being .5" from the door now.. lol!

Thanks man! I agree, the birth sheet on the 4 channel is 437 watts rms which is 137 watts over what it was supposed to be and the sub amp is 94 watts over aswell...
