Adding an iPod to a 2000 Taurus SE

I just bought a 2000 Taurus SE as a driver (new job makes me drive to the office twice a week) and I was wondering about any recommendations for how to add an IPod to the stereo.

* update the deck?
It has one of those all-in-one front plates that includes the climate controls. Maybe some tricky custom work?

* FM transmitter
I had one for my old iPod and it was full of static

* Tape adapter
What's the sound quality like for one of those?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i just got a new alpine 9883 with the ipod connect

works great

only thing is if the quality of the song is less than ideal on the ipod, then it sounds crappy as well throughout the system

but if the song quality is good then the quality through the system is great, makes sense

I've also tried fm transmitters and had the same static results. I wouldn't recommend a tape adapter. I've heard them and the ones I heard sounded on the crappy side. Not sure what other options you have. I believe you can get adapters that actually plug inline with the antenna connection. I've heard you get good sound quality and you wouldn't have to swap out your hu.
