Hi, a friend of mine has 2 7892's, one in his car and one in his gf's car. both of them have really dim displays, and can't be seen during the day, only at night.

I looked through the manual off alpine site, and played with the unit for a few minutes, but couldn't see a way to change the brightness. Is there a way, or are the displays just getting weaker over time... It's just that it's doing it on both of them, unless they are both failing at the same time...

regards, Mark

Dimmer Control
(CDA-7995/CDA-7894/CDA-7893 only)
Set the DIMMER control to AUTO to decrease the
illumination brightness of the unit with the head lights of
the vehicle ON. This mode is useful if you feel the unit's
backlighting is too bright at night.

HMM looks like the 7892 did not have a selectable dimmer control. http://ecominet2.alpine-usa.com/html...da-7894_om.pdf

Hard to say. Does the 7892 allow you to angle the face in different positions, maybe see if that helps at all?

yeah you can angle it, but it only makes it worse... complete 90 degrees is the 'best'

the wierd thing is that both of the units only have 6 months use on them. I know they are 2002 models, but they have sit in their boxes up until 6 months ago... wierd that both the displays are going at the same exact time.

The vehicles that these are installed in, they don't have the dimmer wire off the harness hooked up do they?
