Alpine 9815 or 9833
#12
I have a 9815 and love it; lots of features. It's the only thing I have in my car for processing right now, and it does the trick.
However, I'm not using the internal amplifier.
I do not have any experience with the 9833 or 9835.
If Oshawa isn't too far for you, you should try Audiowaves Mobile Entertainment. Last time I was there I saw a 9815 on the display board for a really good price. If you talk to Jason or Cathy they should be able to do a good deal for you.
Hope that helps.

I have the 9835 in my pickup and I think it's awesome. For some relaitvely entry level speakers (4" Type S Coaxial fronts in factory location and 6.5" Type R Coaxials in rear) running off the V-Drive deck power, it sounds very clean and they keep up with my 12"L7 running off a 1000BD in a MaxSPL 3.25cuft slot ported enclosure.
The tuning abilities of the 9835 is great and easy to do. Even easier if you use the i-Personalize website to d/l your settings onto a cd-r and then use the download feature on the HU to upload them into your HU.
The display is visible from almost every angle (except extreme angles).
The only issue I had was with my CDA9833 that was overheating because of the nature of my vehicle and the mounting location of the HU and it's proximity to the heat vents. A $10 cpu fan rectified that and I have had zero issues with the 9833 from that point all the way up to swapping for the CDA9835 and it still runs beautifully.
I am impressed with this deck and have sold almost a dozen already just by demo'ing it in my truck and showing them how I get the sound I have with the (relatively) inexpensive gear I am running. (speaker wise with no speaker amp other than the V-Drive).
Give the deck a try. Most shops will allow a 14day moneyback or 30 day exchange and worst case may charge you a 10-15% restocking charge. I figure it would be a small price to pay to be positive you get what you really want.

Hey Lethal, I'm also planning on getting either a kicker 12L5 or 12L7 this summer as well. Sounds like something very similar to what you're running at the moment.
I think I will be picking up the 9833. On sound domain I read about the new alpine decks not having a very good bass output. With the Bass Engine Pro, I would assume the 9833 would be one of the better decks in terms of bass...wouldn't it??
Anyhow, I'm not really sure what amp I should run with the kicker subs. I know of the JBL bp600 and 1200 and the kicker kx with the ssf. Are there any other good alternatives at a reasonable price?

I just sold my 9815 yesterday for $380 locally (Van.) and I just installed my 9835. I didn't find any real difference in SQ at all but the 9835 has a nicer 'at-a-glance' EQ display. That and the Bio-lite display are the two coolest things on the deck IMO.

essentially i think the 9833 and 9835 are the same, and i like the display of the 9833 more (my preference) so its not second best in my eyes
but hopefully everything goes well and ill have the 9833 in my hands next week.
thx for ur help everyone.
