Alpine 9886 RCA issue

I have the Alpine 9886 head unit and Imprint box as well. I am going to be experimenting with another processor and as such disconnected the Imprint.

When I connected all of the RCA`S (front, rear and sub) to the 9886 only the subs worked.

I am leaning towards this being a settings issue of some kind but could not find anything within the 9886 menu relevant. I am unable to get a meter on the RCA's to check for voltage until tomorrow when I bring it in to put the other processor in.

I was hoping to have the issue solved before that.

Any one have any thoughts?

Cool

I'm not sure if my experience will help you, but I have the same deck with Imprint as well and had an issue where I was getting a fading in and out of the bass from the subs. Long story short, the way we diagnosed this problem was by checking the RCA's themselves, since we originally thought it was Imprint and connected the system directly (as opposed to using Imprint) but when we plugged in and unplugged RCA's, were able to determine it was not Imprint and just a bad RCA run in my car.

It was kind of a good-bad scenario, since I didn't want it to be Imprint (expensive repair, I'm sure) but then I didn't want to run another run of RCA's but ... had to do it. Problem fixed.

The only settings I can think of that might be relevant is that plugging in Imprint puts up its own menu. Within that Menu, there's a variety of equalization options available, such as using Factory EQ settings or custom settings. Try playing with that, maybe one is setup so that there's no speakers and only the sub (which would be strange but who knows).
Other than that, I can't think of anything off hand ...

If you turn off the sub through Imprint, you have a system that's playing nothing?

When Imprint is all hooked up it plays fine. No issues. It's when I unplug imprint and plug my RCA'S instead that I get no signal. I know there are toggle switches on the bottom of the unit and I did switch them over but perhaps I need to reset the head unit or something.

FIXED. Toggle switches on the bottom that I had tried prior. I didn't slide them far enough over.

This always happens, spend hours trying to look for solutions online, finally post then fix it myself minutes later.

Well, at least it was an easy fix

Who knows, you're probably helping someone else in the future with this thread.

Such a stupid design. Alpine needs to take a hike or build better thought out gear

actually it's one of the best ideas I've seen.

One product that is 100% capable for two different consumers.

My 9833 has two switches on the bottom.

one is 3-way/F,R,Sub
eother is Normal/processor output

If an average user flipped the 3-way on through the deck interface that would be bad news.

If you're going to go a different direction and want to sell the Imprint, I may be interested in buying it (as long as it's the PXA-H100, not sure if there's any other Imprint boxes). What didn't you like about it?

I will likely be selling it. I didn't dislike the Imprint I just never found that I used the imprint side of things much. It worked well to unlock eq and t/a options for my 9886 deck and that is what I primarily used it for.

Give me a couple days to organize myself and and price and we can discuss payment/shipping if you are still interested. And yes it is the PXA-H100. Also has the tuning kit.
