Alpine flip up

just got a free alpine cva-1003, flip up, only problem is, that it has a hard time with the screen coming out and going back in, with a help from me it works, but is there something i could do to fix this? maybe dirty or jammed? or some where to take it? also, i never knew that you couldn't put cds into this, but i want to be able to play cd and dvds, is there a changer that can do both? i use ipod 99% of time, but would be nice to play dvds. also how do i bypass the brake with this one with the switch? and 1 more Q, there is a foot brake lead on it, what is that for?

what would be better to use this new unit, or my alpine cda-9830??

yes there are DVD/CD/MP3 flip up monitor players... dont have any off the top of my head but yeah. more experienced users members here would know. and i would assume dvd player are more expensive because they are waayy more loaded than a regular deck, a lot more technology and engineering.

yea but its just a changer? maybe im wrong, but wouldn't it just be a changer you stick a dvd into, then it reads it and sends signal to the flip up i have? i dont understand why alpine wouldn't make it where you could just stick a cd in the front like a reg deck?

yea i did, its just a dvd/mp3.... and so on changer, i just cant believe the prices, it seems like if i was going to buy one i might as well get money and buy a flip up where you can load them into the flip up its self. as this flip up is useless on its own.

well i found an alternative way, either portable dvd player or a dvd player that is just a unit where i can hook it up to the flip up. now is there a way to fix the screen problem of having troubles coming out, or just leave it out all the time? i would like to be able to put it in due to i really dont want to show it off to thieves.

i would recommend just getting a new unit. that one is really old and obsolete now. alpines dvd changer is expensive and a guy at work had one and said it was a piece of crap. u could by a stand alone unit to play dvds but it wont be controled thru the head unit which is a pain and the quality is usually pretty low. the parking brake lead gets connected to the parking brake to allow video playback. just throw away that one and by a newer model for a few hundred bucks.
