Hey guys, I just got my hands on the alpine harddrive unit and the CDA-9835. My queston is in regards to the harddrive unit and the upcoming winter. Does one suggest I take out the harddrive unit during the night as well as the face plates? Does anything think that keeping the HDD outside in lets say -30 weather is a bad thing? I think it would be.

Anyone else think this?

 

When was this recall issued? Now when youmean software do you mean the software that came with it, because thats the only software that came with it.
Unless youmean the firmware on the harddrive unit itself.

 

dave the ipod interface is in now, i am waiting for two of them to ship to me. and yeah i heard that the hda5460 was a crap heap and thats why it wasnt carried on this year and thats how the ipod interface came to be. cool thing with the ipod is you can have your music in the car and then take it with you wherever your gonna go. gonna throw one in my car soon i'll post an tell everyone how it works out.

 

Yeah the software is absolutely crap, I am trying to use it right now and it does not work at ALL. Considering that it was released last year, I would assume that it would be fixed by now, but apparentally not.

The software is so bad, I tell it to add new folders to grab songs from, it updates but does not show them or where they are. What the hell is this lol.
Those nubs from Alpine better call me back and give me a good reason why they havent fixed this yet.

 

Because it was easier to sell them all to Visions for cheap than to fix them.

Yeah definately, I have never seen such a poorly made program ship with such an innovative, and killer looking unit. I never thought Alpine would do that. Ah well, ya win some and ya lose some, so I just returned it and picked up the CDA-7998 [img]smile.gif[/img]
