Alpine Head Unit Fix?

So one night last night week I left the car unlocked. Woke up to find somebody had trashed the inside of the car (nothing damaged just all the contents in the car were scattered about).. They tried to take the deck but it was screwed into a support at the back of the dash. They didn't get the deck out but managed to screw it up nice and good.

The deck is an Alpine CDA-9851 and the bastard pulled the ribbon cable out of the deck. This is the ribbont that goes from the faceplate holder into the the deck itself. I stuffed the cable back in and managed to get the deck working. Well sorta. It plays 1 radio station because none of the buttons on the faceplate work. I called a local Alpine retailed and the response was "nobody really fixes those anymore". Rather than paying a bunch of money to replace it, does anyone have any insight into whether or not this can be fixed?

Thanks.... Still feelin' pretty dumb about the whole thing.

Take it to S&S Electronics. Estimates are free.

I doubt your going to find anybody in Ottawa.. have you maybe thought about a new deck? Most of the time its less exspensive to buy new than to fix..

But it you look hard enough you will find somebody who can fix it..

Goodluck.

Yeah, I'm gonna start looking into a new deck.

Maybe I'll see if I can get the ribbon attached properly before I give up on it.

To be honest, I wasn't really happy with it anyway. It was a christmas gift, so that part was great, but the faceplate rattled and the colour didn't match my dash at all.

Alpines authorized service center is here in Markham, near where i work. It's on their website.
They're good, and they're pretty fast. Remove your deck, ship UPS overnight. They don't need harnesses or cables, they got all that.
They phone with an estimate and timeframe.
You give them your credit card nimber, they fix it. Ship it back overnight and you re-install.
How could it be any easier? We're you expecting magic?

Thanks for the info.

Magic? Nope.

I was hoping somebody who knew something about Alpines could tell me whether significangt damage was done to the deck when the ribbon cable was pulled out of its mooring. If it could potentially cost over $150 to repair I won't bother.

Suppose I should have just asked that.
