alpine help
if an alpine goes nfg in the rca's .
1. would it get the main speakers to go or the fill to go out
or
2 would it get the L or R side of the rca's to go out
i have no power on one side of the rca's on the main and the fill but i have not removed the deck yet to test the deck .i hope it is the deck over the new rca's that i just added .the deck is less work

Unless they're making them different these days, the whole left, or right, side would go down together - RCAs, speaker outputs, all of it. Actually - usually the whole output section would Chernobyl at once and you'd have nothing at all.
I'd suspect the RCAs myself - but it's easy enough to test.

yes but if your set up plays 3ch out of 5ch (2main , 2 fill, and sub )and at 1/2 power just plays sub .my thinking is better to test and fix befor the shows start than miss the shows
and i can test and replace rca's how befor i get the alpine back

So your Alpine deck seems like it has half the output on the SUB RCA than the others?
That's pretty much normal, and it sucks
Whenever I get an Alpine deck to install with a sub, I have to set the sub output level to damn near max before there's appreciable signal voltage. Alpine decks have been that way forever

I'll agree 100% with the above statement. I like Alpine but that has always been a sore spot with me, the sub level is cranked yet on some songs the bass falls out at you're stuck. The only option is to run the bass setting itself up which affects everything else. I've never been comfortable with setting a gain to a ridiculous level to make up for this.

I can't say I've ever had this problem with my Alpine 9833, mind you I don't use it's RCA outs. It's hooked to an Alpine 701 processor via Ai-net, and from the proc. to the amps. With this set up, my amp's gain is about half way. Come to think of it, I've always had either an eq or proc. hooked from the sub out, even way back in the day. I guess that's why I've never noticed it.
