Alpine MRD-M605 power rating a 8ohms

Can anyone tell how to figure out what the power rating would be on this amp at 8ohms?

I plan to run 2 JL Audio 10w1's(4ohms) in series for an Ohm rating

If I run in Parallel there will be too much power

4ohms is 300
2ohms is 600

8 Ohms 150

But, I would run them in parallel. 300 on each, keep the gain and volume low enough that they never clip, you should be fine.

150w rms into 8 ohms, so 75w rms per speaker give or take.

Tom the shop I buy them from say that the amp will be too much for just one!

It's getting 150+ right now with the gains at just under half and it's happy but I now need that channel for my doors. With the gains at nil it's quite significantly less!

I'll try the 605 with just the one first and if it's ok at NIL I'll go with what I have and maybe dress the box up!

A couple of things......

1. That amp is a lot of power for 2 of the subs....having said that, proper set-up of the amp gain and the variable sub out on the deck should enable you to run them safely...get or make a proper ported box for them and you can be the guy who tells the rest of us how they do maxed out.....

2. I'm assuming from your second statement that you're running the single off the 2 rear channels on the other amp....personally I like all speakers amplified anyway, and the extra headroom for your subs is a good thing to have.

looking at your list there I don't undestand why you're playing around with w1s anyway. why not get some decent subs that can take some power
