Alpine MRP-M650 Subsonic filter

Hi,

I am doing some research and found that the Alpine MRP-M650 has a builtin subsonic filter fixed at 15Hz. That to me seems too low. I plan on using a ported box and was told that I should have an amp with a subsonic filter set at around 20-25Hz. Is 15Hz pratically useless? Any inputs?

thanks

Kel

Depends on what subs your running. If you are throwing a lot less than rms to the speaker and tune very low, you should be ok. However, if you are running anywhere near rms, I think you might run into trouble. Another option would be to get an outboard ssf and use that. Anyone else want to pipe in?

I was thinking of a Kicker L7 12" Which should handle 750RMS. That amp is rated for 600RMS. SO you think it should be okay? Kicker had box plans that I think, were tuned to around 35Hz for their Street Bass Box.

Who sell a separate SSF anyway?

Thanks.
