Hi guys,

I'm trying to decide whether I should purchase the Alpine Type R SPR-17S Component speakers off eBay for $140 or go for the Alpine Type X SPX-17REF Component speakers for an extra $50. I was also wondering why the SPX-17REF's are better than the SPR-17S's because the 17S's have more Peak Power Wattage, sorry but I'm a total noob and don't really know much about car audio.

P.S. System will be going in an 02 Jetta.

Both models should be available on most Alpine dealer's demo boards. My suggestions is to go listen to them and decide which one sounds better to you.

I am going to do that tonight, but as for specs what are the REAL differences between the two sets of component speakers Type R and Type X? Thanks
