alpine type r questions
Hey guy, currently running a single alpine 12" type R in my 2009 aveo5 hatch. been thinking on adding a 2nd.
Its a dvc 2ohm , currently wired to 1ohm and running off a hifonics brutus 1200d amp , im prob pushing about 500-600 rms to the sub. about 6/10s gain I guess my question is think it will make much of a difference adding another 12"? where they are 2ohm dvcs what would be my wiring options.. especially to the amp. |
Buy second sub and wire series/parallel. That will give you a 2 ohm load to the amp.

i wondered would it work properly to have 1 2ohm dvc and 1 4ohm dvc. wire it up to give a 1.5ohm load?

Well if I pick up a 2nd sub ill just get another dvc 2ohm.
What are my wiring options with 2 dvc2's? |
The only good one is series/parallel or parallel/series both will give you a 2 ohm load. Possibilities are 8, 2, or .5 ohms.

I think one sub "sees" more power than the other... not positive though. Might have cancellation issues due to subs having different impedance's. :dunno:
grab a second amp and another dvc2ohm lol |
well id still be sending close to 900rms to both if wired to 2ohms
or ive been thinking of upgrading to a xxx re 12" single. think id be better off with 1 re xxx 12, or 2 alpine type rs |
you'll be better off with another type r

thats what i was wondering as well..
i had 2 1st gen type R 10 inchers before in a mazda protege5 but they were always underpowered getting like 300 watts rms total this single 12 kicks hard and sounds good in the small hatch i have now... and power is never a issue its currently in a 2 cubic foot box, L shape Port tuned to 35hz |
