Alpine Type R vs. Infinity REF6010 Components??

Hey guys,
I'm a bit of an audio newb. I want to get a component system for my car (92 civic hatch) and i'm trying to decided on alpine type r's or the infinity ref6010. i tried searching, and all i've found is that alpines have a little too much base up front (?).

i'm looking for good sound, clear sound, and if it makes a difference, primarily rock, alt. rock, trance, and 80's songs are gonna be played through my sony HU.

any suggestions? thanks in advance

mods, feel free to move this to sound quality section... not sure if i shoulda posted there lol

I'd go with the Infinity set for sure. Really good speakers, they got a great high end to them.

You should actually go listen to them before you buy either, most people dont like the sound of infinity comps because the tweet is harsh...

I would take the alpine if i had to but on ebay you can get better .

Personally I have heard both sets(had them both in my car) and I take the infinity's over Alpine any day!! ANd I hardly ever take anything over alpine!! Just personal prefference.

I've had both also, and I too am a big Alpine fan, but i like the sound of infinity comps. Some think the tweeter is harsh, personal preference I guess, I think they are lively and bright. I don't like dark sounding tweets. Anyway, best thing to do is listen to them, and let YOUR ears be the judge!

i found they were a lil hollow sounding, but that was it, not as vibrant sounding as some tweets!! But hey for the money, Infinity ref's are the way to go! Worst case scenario, you won't like them!!lol

These answers are based on the components you asked about. There are many Alpines that are very good, so depends on price range and type of sound you're looking for.
