Question

Installed a new battery and thought I'd check voltages...a DMM is still new to me, but was given the basics today.

Battery at rest = 12.7dcv. I thought that was pretty good.

Battery with car running (idle and i revved it, but no change) = 14.4dcv. I think that's a little low? Shouldn't it be closer to 14.7?

I'm using a crapy tire DMM 10megohm, pretty new, hardly used. Could it be out +/- 0.3dcv? It was on the 20dcv setting.
I'm testing a toyota 3.0L V6, its got a 100amp fuse/breaker for the alt.

Any opinions?

Gene
