amp
Go to plug in a different amp in my car, turn it on without RCA cables, it produces a static sound.
Plug in the cables sound decreases in volume.
The car was not running, nothing on at the time, including the CD player, the remote wire I just jumped from +.
I have had many other amps installed in the sprint this is the first amp that made noise other then what I am sending an amp that it has ever produced.
Yet when I plug it into a bench system at 15 volts, no noise....wtf

Edit, spell check

Could this be the cause
is this amp a four channel or a sub amp. Also if it is a sub amp if the wiring from your deck is not insulated properly and any one of the speaker leads touches another lead or the frame the deck will either make a static noise or will go into protection if its got it.
Jumping from the remote to the power is fine temporarily for testing. All the remate is, is a relay to turn on the amp. As for the sound, he mentionned he heard static with no RCAs connected, could be dur to a loose ground thats moving around. Also when you plugged the RCAs in (just a guess here), but the volume decreased due to the preout voltage.
Anyways, someone correct me, if Ièm wrong!

could be a grounding issue but why only when he hooked up this amp. I was thinking if it was a d class amp ive heard rockfords and my mtx 1501 d's make a hissy static sound upon turning on then it goes away after ten to 15 seconds. the real question is if the sound is coming thru the speakers or outta the amp.
its a kenwood mono block
without the cd player on, or if you just plug in a set of RCAs to the amp the static decreases in volume
and the sound comes from the woofers
ground is solid as i can tell, and like i said, its quiet for other amps.

for testing sack i plugged in my diskmen with a mini y adaptor, same problem
once a cd player is plugend in and signal is going to the amp the sound your sending it over powers the static and is not audible, till you get to a quiet passage, and there is the static agen
well, take off your ground, re-sand it down to the metal and reground.... otherwise, find a new location to ground your amp....
also another question, does it make the sound with the car running and when the car is off?
