Amp Help

Hi guys, pretty new to the forum. I have a few questions. My brother is looking to get either

1 (12) RE Audio SEX12D2 or

1 (12)Rockford Fosgate P3D2-12 (11P3D212).

He doesnt know which one to get? Is one ultimately better than the other? RMS is the same on both.

And as far as an amp goes I am clueless. Definitely would like a class D monoblock with 1 channel. When it comes to wiring it we are gonna wire down to 1ohm. So when looking for an amp do I look at what the rms is for one channel? Or how does that work?

For example the Hifonics ZRX2000.1D is 2000 watts X 1 channel at 1ohm. Would that be overpowering the sub? Do I match the subs PEAK output with the amps output at 1ohm?

Sorry for my dumbness but im confused on what to look for in an amp and definitely dont want to blow the sub or amp up.

Thanks guys!

Hey bud,
You want to match the RMS ratings, not peak. Ignore peal altogether, forever.
Unless you're planning to upgrade soon even the ZRX1000.1 would be a better match I fed my P3D212 with a 1200W amp and it took it nicely, watching for clipping. I have no experience with RE gear, but the RF was very musical with pretty good bottom end considering it needed ony a smallish enclosure.

Hi guys so my brother ended up getting a Sound Stream SA-12 D2. I take it this sub is pretty good? Now to find a healthy quality amp to go with it.

Its 600 watts rms.

http://www.woofersetc.com/p-9261-sa-...subwoofer.aspx

When we are going to wire this sub is it best we wire down to 1 ohm?

When we are looking for an amp what watts do we look at for 1ohm? between 600-????

This video is of the SA-12 D2 and he said he is running a "Soundstream 1600d amp (Very solid amp. Amp was clamped doing just under 1500rms @ 1 ohm @ 13.6v)"

Is this to much watts going to one sub? 1500 watts is A LOT isnt it?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKSVALzxuB4

thanks so much for yalls help.

His budget on an amp is around $200 plus or minus

Audiopipe ap15001d or apsm1500(depending on how much you want to spend) are supposed to be decent budget amps. They have been bench tested and put out good power. Idk how clean it is but at $200 or less, besides used, not much will be. Hifonics brz1200.1d at 155ish but probably doesn't do rated. Even still with that sa-12 you'd have head room over your 600 rms.

thanks man! audiopipe make good amps? What is the best brand amp that pushes total clean power (~1000 watts @1ohm) without overheating for aprox. $200?

I would probably go with the ap15001d. As long as you have decent electrical and use it the way it's meant to be used it should be fine. I wouldn't ever try to run it at .5 ohm or anything. But the amp does rated and for ~$150 you can't go wrong. All tho if it were me I would at least attempt to find something used.

Guys one thing I noticed is the PPI amps are not fan cooled. Could this be a bad thing?

For instance this amp....

Precision Power PPI P1000.1 (p10001) Monoblock Phantom Car Amplifier

What about this amp guys? Good quality and performance?

Soundstream TN1.1200D Class D Amplifiers at Onlinecarstereo.com

Lastly do amps produce sound quality and what not?

I just got one of these, AMAZING!!!! I have it hooked to 3 Old School 10" JL Audio W6's that are wired to run 1 ohm, in a sealed box. I cant say enough good about it, it is a awesome amp, and reasonibly priced. I would deffinitly recommend it. It is little over $200, I paid $250 shipped to my door.

PA-1500 - Nakamichi 1200 Watt RMS Mono Digital Bass 1 Ohm Amplifier with Remote

Nice! A little on the high side for him. What about cadence amps?
