Amp for my subs
I have 2 12" kickers, i got them from a friend, but i have no idea the wattage to give em. Anyone have a suggestion for what kinda amp to get? I want to get the max out of them but not blow a ton of money, especially if i am going to be over-powering em anyway. I tested em with my house amp and they pounded friggin well, but i don't really know how much i was giving them.
Anyone got a suggestion? I saw an amp that was like 400+ watts at 4 ohms. that enough ya think?

well from what i found on google, they handly 150 watts RMS, so a 400 watt amp would be good just dont turn it all the way up. a little headroom is good so you dont clip the signal.
then you also need to find out what voice coil configuration the subs are in order to get the right amp.

anyway i wondered if this would do it, http://www.crutchfield.com/S-P6Ksi5h...3KAC7201&g=110
but ya i'd still appreciate ya explaining the voice coil thing.

voice coils on subs have different impendances measured in Ohms. most subs have either 2 or 4 ohm voice coils on them.
take a little look at this webpage, it should help you out a bit.

the best way to tell would be to take the sub out and look at it.
