Amp in and out of Protect?

My Hifonics Brutus 1500d is skipping in and out of protect.

It's not a power issue, as I've checked the power to it.

It doesn't SEEM to be thermal.. as I can't detect any absurd heat.

So.. anyone have any ideas?

And, it hops in and out of protect whenever it's playing any considerable bass.

If just playing quietly to low-moderately, it doesn't do this.

Here's a link to a video of how it hops "in and out" of protect several times.

Also, if it helps, I hear a "clicking" when it goes into and out of protect.

Its one of these things:

Voltage issue
Improper gains
Incorrect impedance
Thermal issue
Defective amp

Sub shorted as in coil. Try a different sub.

You pretty sure it's a shorted sub? I really hope not, haha. But, I'll give it a shot.

Gain is set fairly low, actually.

Could be impedance, as I'm running 3/4 ohm (I think? 3 4-ohm subs).

three dual 4 ohm subs??

SUPER EDIT:

If its three dual 4 ohm subs, you can get either 2.67 or .67 ohm load

Well three dual 4 ohm subs .67 the amp should play that load little longer.

Okay, yeah. 0.67 then.

And, it's not a voltage issue. Gains and impedance are good. Not a thermal issue, because it happens even when I just start.

It's not a shorted sub, unless all the subs are shorted? I tried all of them.

So, defective amp? Could this be from running 0.67 ohm for a long time?

one subs suspension would be offset a little and the coil is rubbing the pole piece and shorting it under high excursion..

Most likely a bad ground, or poor connection somewhere.

I've tried all 3 subs individually, it happens with all of them.

On the other side of that, I've tried a different amp and it works okay.

So, I'm pretty sure it's the amp. Is it toast or is there something I can do?
