Alright so my amp will pop twice whenever I turn the key to "ACC" or "ON" (but it won't do that when I start the car). It's not a source unit problem, not a ground problem, not an RCA problem, so what else could it be?
Green light turns on. It is getting input, but draws no power and makes no output. Tried a bunch of different sources and nothing happens.

if its broken, anyone on here that can fix it?

what kind of amp is this?

If it was blown outputs normally it would go into protection... any chance an impact caused the RCA terminals to break off the board ?

Are you %100 sure its not RCA or the source ? gains/settings wiring or the sub ?

list everything you checked and how you checked it maybe someone can help...

Alpine V12 Expert MRV-1005
Tried two sets of RCA cables, from two different sources, the HU and a CD player, and nothing, no matter what I set the gains to
Tried two different subwoofers, one a 4 ohm and the other a 2 ohm load, and nothing
Tried both channels and bridging the amp, still nothing
I still have another power wire I could try
The ground wire is perfect, I've used it before no problem and it definitely works
REM works just fine, because the amp turns on and off when it's supposed to

It might be the RCAs broke off the board or are shorted out somewhere at the terminals or inside the amp. I don't want to open this amp up just yet though, especially since I have zero talent for fixing electronics.

Yea, I've seen RCAs break off the board from amps either not being mounted or by having junk in the trunk that can bang into em...

its usually an easy fix if you can solder..

they aren't even entireley broken, this morning the amp would work if I wiggled the RCAs up and down a little. this thing pounds nice when it works
so as long as the amp isn't grounded when I'm working on it, I won't have to worry about built up static or anything when I'm working on it, right?

Ah ha !

problem found !

A repair shop should charge less then $20 to fix.. make sure you prevent future damage..

Don't understand your question about static ?

i know whenever you are changing something in your computer, any kind of static build up might damage the components so you are supposed to make sure you are isolated and you won't zap your motherboard dead or something.
$20? nice stuff. maybe I'll just borrow my buddy's soldering iron and fix it myself. i really don't want to mess with a $200 investment though

thanks fellas

and coulter, your PM box is full, and this hits 4 pay thing doesn't actually work hotmail blocks all the messages before they even get to me.

alright I opened it up and took at look at it myself and the RCA block is like impossible to access so I am just going to take it to a shop.

anybody got any ideas of a place in Calgary that would fix this?
