got decent quotes on the following amps. People more knowledgeable than myself say there`s more to amps than the power. So I`m asking if anyone has insight that could help me pick one. They will be powering two Type R 10s, needing 200-500 watts each.

I have no experience with any of these, and given my setup, should I care that they seem to be the manufacturer`s lower end goods?

JL JX 1000/1
1000W x 1 @ 2 ohm (14.4V)
1000W x 1 @ 2 ohm (14.4V)

Soundstream L1.1100D
800W x1 @ 2 ohm ((14.4V)

Kicker DX 1000.1
1000W x 1 @ 2ohm (14.4V)

Other than these, I was leaning towards an Alpine MRP M1000. I also got a quote for a JL XD 600.1 for $450, but I didn't think it was enough power; although the sales guy said it would "pound the crap out of those subs".

Any thoughts?

Go JL !!! I sell all 3 brands and the JL is the best quality.

Even though it's their low tier lineup? How would that compare to the alpine, which is their middle tier unit?

Not sure on the Alpine, but consider that JL only makes amps and speakers, concentrating all their efforts on 1 area and a much smaller company based in the US, thus much better overall quality. Alpine makes great head units in my opinion but like most of the other guys unless you buy their top of the line you are much better off with JL. If you want the best sound look at the HD or XD amps. For a complete power plant go to the XD700/5 or the HD900/5, these units are hard to surpass in quality power.

I'd say either go with the JL or the M1000. Both are excellent amps and will be fine for those subs. If you do wanna keep everything Alpine just cause, which is the way i tend to be , then go with the M1000.
