is this amperage alright for my alt?
just go to a auto electric shop....They 'should' be able to find you a rewound alt to fit your stock brackets, in as much amperage as you require (to an extent). Some of the better auto electric shops can find you an alt from a cop car or limo, etc...vehicles that require LOTS of juice in general, for power options.
Maybe a Cadillac alt, since its a GM? Or an Impala police vehicle alt, might also be able to be fitted??
Just look under auto-electric in the Yellow Pages and go to work (I like Dg auto electric...various locations...hint)
A LOT cheaper than buying a new unit, too..

i cannot just go somewhere to get it rewound because i tried caling people and asking them and they said they could only rewind them to 140amps. thats why i asked.
is www.excessiveamperage.com in canada? i got a price quote of 270 with shipping but i dont know if that is US currency. know any good places in the GTA?
You can get rewound alts for that application, call D.G. Auto Elelctric and double check.
I dont mean to harp on it or argue, but I got a 220 amp alt for a full-size GM quite easily from them. It was out of an older Impala SS cop car.
You'll save yourself a bunch of money
