Amplifier Installation Quote.. Am I Gettin Ripped Off...

When you say run the speaker wires behind the deck what do you mean exactly? they already run from behind the deck to the speakers.. wouldnt they just go to the amp.. (since its under the seat the speaker wire should be long enough) then from the amp to the speakers?

A&B Sound and Future shop (pretty much every location for both) are booked until mid january for installations. Anyone reccommend a good honest shop in the GVRD that won't try to sell me on the most expensive way to do something?

I agree - the ultimate BEST way to do the job is to run the wire into the doors. However - lets be realistic. For the level of install this is, there will be ZERO sonic differnce between running into the doors and running to the back of the deck. ZERO.
In light of that - its been my policy to offer the customer both options - but be realistic with them. The inevitible question is "will it make a difference". Can you answer YES to that question? I can't...

If I'm doing the work, at least I know where I screw up, what clips I break, where I do it half *** because I'm too lazy. When you take it to a shop, you're going into it blind. You have no idea where shortcuts were taken, etc.

A business will cover any neglect or accidental damage. There are many quality shops around that do above average installs as well. To arbitrarily label all shops as doing a half-a$$ed job is just plain wrong. Take my shop or Tim's, Jeff's or Dave's..... the quality of the work is indeed what you are paying for. So the comment of "If I'm doing the work, at least I know where I screw up, what clips I break" applies to me as well, at least I can be held accountable for my actions and take pride in not taking shortcuts at the same time.
There are two ways of doing a job, right and wrong. You choose.
