Slingshot2?
Tom?
Dave?
What is the "magic variable"?
Dave you just supported my point: there are reasons to buy one amp over another that ECLIPSE any potential difference in sound.

Hey, instead of calling me Slingshot 2 all the time, just call me Brandon, that's my name, I don't know if anybody knew that or not, I just noticed that though.
Yea, I don't think Krobon would do anything like that like I think it was Dave, said, they don't need to take the time to pull the wool over your eyes.

^Hey, man. I'M the only serious tool allowed around here!
OK, here's my take on things. The way an amp is built can have an effect on how it sounds, not just output type. An obvious reason why I like using amps with no crossover or added circuitry that is that it can alter the performance of the amp.
I also prefer using 2 channel amps over 4 channel ones, or amps with multiple power supplies to maximize stereo integrity and reduce noise.
I also like to avoid crap with mediocre components -- hence point #2 ie, a 4ch amp with 1 tiny toroid.
My stipulations ensure I have happy little transients.
That's all I have to say for now.

Mqqball, I used the Bryston vs Sony example because I thought that most people here could relate to that. If I made a comparison of a Krell to a Mark Levinson or Cello product, most people here would be left in the dark. (although my percieved credibility to some would go up)My point was that an amplifiers dynamic ability has more to do with design than power ratings. I won't get into specifics, but lets just say the total value of the system used was over $20K. Installing either the Bryston or Sony was a significant downgrade. When I compared the 2 amps, I used the same equipment including well set up speakers. The software was high quality Chesky CDs and Sheffield Lab LPs that I was very familiar with.
This subject will always be brought up, I bet Dave sets his watch by it sometimes.

Anyways, who cares At the end of the day, if you can open up your car, look at all the crap you spent all that hard earned money on and smile at your install and design genius..............and then get in that rust bucket, turn on some tunes and still be smilin'........... that's the most important thing of all.
All the bullsh!t about who's stuff is better and blah, blah, blah isn’t worth much more then a pile of warm donkey dung. So don't take it all too seriously. You should enjoy what you have and what you can afford. It’s always a race to the next better thing and there will ALWAYS be something bigger and better that proclaimed by everyone’s marketing arm. And there will always be controversy. Lastly and most importantly, everyone knows you can actually hear a better amp. You can put any amp beside an ARC Audio amp in any system and the ARC will ALWAYS sound much much better. It’s the best amp in the world…………no the UNIVERSE.

But yea, I know what you mean man, mention Levinson or Plini to someone that that is new to home audio, and you become a god to them cause they dunno what your talking about. It's kinda flattering.

I offer my opinions based on experience, that's all. People are entitled to those.
If people don't like them, that's fine too. I'll keep them to myelf..
..much less hassle anyways...
