So i just pick up some brand new MTX MZS 1004 subs, and have no amp to power them. I stuck on getting one of the new MTX MXA amps. So far whats the feedback on these amps? good bad? Anyways these subs are 300 rms each. The MXA 4001 will put out 400RMS+a little more, thats going rite now for 399.99<-----more in my budget. But the MXA 6001 puts out 600RMS+ adding another 100$ to the price, yes i know its only 100$ but im student and i need to afford tuition this year. I guess my main question is can i get away with using the 4001 on these subs and still get them to pound really good, or should i start looking else where? From what i see the 4001 is the cheapest most powerful mono amp future shop sells right now.

The MXA4001 to power a pair of MZS 10's should be sufficient. If you really want it to pound you should also make sure that you have the right box for them...

ya im going with MTX's specs for a vented box, with a little changes so it will fit. So is the 4001 a good idea?

I am positive you will be happy with the results of the MXA4001. Most of them will bench at roughly 475 watts.

on those 2 10" it will work great.

good luck!

take a look at the mtx 4002 and you'll see that the average bench power on them is well up over 500w at 2ohms, while the 4001 is only around the high 400w range at 2ohm. for the same price the 4002 is a very good alternative to the 4001. ask the guys at fs to show you the birth certificates for both amps and you'll see the difference, check it out.
