Anyone have problems w/the new Alpine H/U's?
#1
I bought an Alpine CDA-9813 this spring for my old "truck project", but alas the truck got totalled and it went into my Accent. So..
I encountered a problem with the swing-face technology when last week, I went to change a cd, the face swings down, and then when it goes to swing back up, it gets stuck. Like its off the track or something. Like something is caught. I took it into the boys at Audio Concepts and they said its the first they have seen or heard of with that problem. Good thing for warranty. First off, I am very careful when using the head unit, and second, when de-taching the face plate when away from my vehicle, I am careful not to rush taking it off, so no tabs break.
Anyone ever see or hear that happen before? I like my Alpine h/u, but, may look at something with "less moving parts" if this happens again.
Thanks guys
PS.....I'm baaaaack!...glad to be back

I've owned a CDA-7873 for almost a year and a half now, no problems. My buddy has owned his CDA-7873 for over 2 years now, no problems. My GF has owned her CDA-7893 for about 6 months now, no problems (except it really doesn't like CDs with fingerprints or scratches on them for some reason. Even a few fingerprints and it has trouble reading the disc, can get quite annoying, but at least she's learning not to fingerprint up my CDs and DVDs ).

I had a 7893, It seems that it could not read cd's very well so i switched to a pioneer 6500, not that great sound wise as ALPINE i think, however all in all, i will still buy an alpine deck next when i decided im done with the Pioneer.

The only time my GF's has a problem is if the disc is scratched or has fingerprints on it. It's not really a problem for my discs because I take excellent care of mine (Some of my friends have dubbed me the "CD ****" because I won't let them touch my CDs in fear that they'll damage them) ... But all of her old CDs won't play because she didn't know you're not supposed to get fingerprints on them
