I want to order a subwoofer from elemental designs, they even offer the free shipping to canada... but it's with UPS.
If anyone has ordered one how much duty and brokerage fee crap did you end up paying.
Is there a way to predict how much the brokerage fee will be on UPS packages?

I have ordered my Edi6500s and nine.4 straight from ed, with free shipping...I think, trying to remember .... brokerage fees... must think.
From what i can remember the EDi's were in the $40 - $50 range, and actually now that i remember i got the nine.4 when they had the deal with UPS to include a minimal brokerage fee with the initial shipping cost.
UPS.ca used to have a brokerage fee calculator depending on value/weight, but i cant find it on their site anymore.
Hope that helps.

UPS charges paperwork & a fee for fronting customs the VAT tax on your behalf; plus the VAT tax itself (read: GST + PST on electronics)
I recommend checking this... on something worth anything you might be better off having the parcel sent 2nd. day air which will include brokerage and you get it right away... (ie, $20 for ground shipping + 45 brokerage = should have paid for $65 air )
That is unless you can get USPS EMS or priority mail is the shizzle for saving on brokerage fees...

I ordered an 13Ov.2 last summer. I paid 195 US plus conversion to canadian dollars. no shipping, no brokerage.
I was told by Ed that I would be responsible for brokerage when I asked them, but I guess I got lucky.
They have online service during normal business hours through msn if you need to ask questions.
Good luck with your sub!!!

Same sub I'm planning to order, how you like it?
I used their help chat today and they said that they no longer have the brokerage deal with UPS. I guess you did get really lucky, if I order I'm expecting to end up paying around $300, I'm worried about it being more though.

Brokerage tends to be have a "class chart" that is by weight I think. I can't remember anymore....
anyhow. That sub is uber. I absolutely love it. I have one ,feeding it 350 rms, ported box built to spec. My first high excursion sub and im very pleased.
In retrospect, I would have built the sealed box, because the bass is not tight enough for my preferences, and the spec ported box is pretty big.
FYI The eng drawing for the spec box is not third angle projection (which is standard for eng drawings), so I found it to be confusing to interpret.
