Anyone use a noise filter

Is the n-700 the one to get?

"SGLI
Product Family: Electronics
Ground loop isolator features 24K Gold plated twisted pair RCAs on both input and output. The SGLI utilizes audio transformer technology to filter out noise while retaining exceptionally good audio quality."

good thing i asked.

Seems to imply the Stinger doesn't work. Ever use one? The Stinger is a quality piece that is readily available, inexpensive, and completely returnable if it does not work out. I've carried a lot of different GLIs over the years in a wide range of pricing and the Stinger is a good part. Something doesn't have to be obscure or hard to get to work well.
Cutra - the skinny is that you shouldn't even need any of these. An hour of troubleshooting should get rid of the noise without any of these parts. All they are is the easy way to mask a problem but not fix it.

If it was 20+ outside i would be ripping everything apart to figure it out lol.
I'm going to check out fs since i have a store credit anyway and yes of course if it does not work i'm returning back as soon as possible with receipt.

No, that's not what I ment... and I'm sure the Stinger works fine....
I was referencing the 'fixes' often recommended that generally don't work like changing ground points, rerouting cables, changing cables.. ect.. or band aids like grounding RCA's...
If you have a ground loop problem it's because the equipment you are using has a lack of isolation between signal ground and power ground.. so Im not sure exactly how you can fix that with a bit of troubleshooting... short of swapping out equipment or using something that actually works to fix the problem....

http://ecmweb.com/grounding/isolators_reduce_0804/
that is a very good thread on NEC and how our problems in car audio are not unique to us and our solutions are also not unique to us.

I think I used the C1-2RR very good and very expensive...

troubleshooting gets REALLY hard when there are multiple faults or an illogical fault (a non-constant fault or one that behaves oddly) ... i.e. water intrusion, multiple bad connections, a faulty wire/ crimp/ termination (as it jiggles its performance varies)
some of the isolation transformers perform better than others and you should be able to hear the difference between an el cheep-o (say $3) and a nice one (say $50), I am not SURE the Jensen I used was cost effective or not

^ John, an isolator is not a cover up or a mask... it litterly breaks the path for a ground loop.....
Do you smoke PCP ?!?
Jensen has made high end isolators for a long time... and I'm pretty sure they started out making them for telephone lines....
No doubt the Cl-2RR is a high end transformer, capable of handeling higher preout voltage then most GLI's..... and I'm also sure the proof is in it's sheer size.... and price.....
To the origional poster the n-700 should be looking better all the time
