sounds like a crappy company to do busines with

This is not the first time nor the last that I will have encountered this either. cough Audiobahn cough. I have run across this over the years as well.

On a separate note, is it just me or are some companies warranty practices heading down le toilet. Eclipse for example will not warranty a blown sub now. No warranty for my paying customer on a $100.00 subwoofer has led to me cancelling all subwoofer purchases from my distributor regardless of the lines that they distribute. I warrantied the sub for my customer out of my pocket, so I shoulder the loss here. Then I have a larger loss again paying to ship the item to them just to have them say, sorry, no warranty. If their competition (pretty much everyone else I deal with) is providing this warranty the first or even second time around, so should they. The second or third time around same problem, I side with the distributor as it is customer abuse and after the first time, they should have known better. What are your guys thoughts on this?

im sorry but besides head units amps and speaker stay current models commonly for 2-3 years plus
and as i said i have delt with distributors for 22 years
i just didn't start out yesterday
and nobody has ever told me that the warranty begins from the day i order the product
and that i needed proof of purchase from them not the customer for warranty purposes
i inventory usually between $75,000-$100,000 in product
when i order i usually try to get prepaid as well as case lot to get better pricing
some product sits in the room commonly for 3-12 months
nobody and i said nobody in my days of business has ever told me this

i have had dei try and tell me my bypass modules are dated and after 3 years you out of luck
after i asked them if they were willing to take back my stock each year and replenish it with new stuff
they changed there mind

p.s. im not flaming global im making dealers and customer aware of there policys that they publicise

i have yet to have a speaker refused warranty
manufacturers and distributors include warranty cost in purchase price and when you look at the price we pay and the prices they go for on ebay and etailers you know something dosn't add up
but thats why we support the canadian distributors so we can look after when i don't i go somewhere else i like to sell product that gets looked after

is it automobility that does eclipse still?

also when we phoned audiopipe in the states they were unaware that was how it was done
hopfully they can find a better distributor

MR2NR 06-18-2006 03:02 PM

Yes it is still Automobility. I have had a total of 3 Eclipse subs and 1 Audiobahn refused warranty this year for being blown. 2 were sent in, 2 went straight to the circular file in the install bay. In these cases I provided a replacement to my customer. I should point out that this situation is only regarding subwoofers. Any Automobility branded products from cd players to amps to coax or component speakers has been looked after properly and thoroughly every time.

i was thinging of trying the audiovox speakers to replace the audiopipe and xxx

MR2NR 06-18-2006 03:36 PM

Get it in writing then as to the warranty situation on blown subs. Things seem to have changed mid stream on me as to how warranty works with absolutely no notification at all.
