B2200 Worklog (2009)

Okay so I thought I would start a new project and keep a worklog.

Vehicle: 1990 B2200 Short Cab
Work done previously:
- Engine Rebuilt
- Engine stripped of enviro stuff
- Transmission Rebuilt
- Suspension lowered by about 2" properly
- 17" Rims with Hankook tires
- Some Paint work done (not up to my standards)
- Bed rust removed cleaned and covered properly
- I used EZ Liner to fill the truck bed and make it look better (black)
- Grant Steering wheel added and painted to match the truck

Problems to be fixed
- With the enviro controls removed, a vortex effect happens on cold days and the truck will stall at a red light until it's heated up. To fix this I'm going to build a heat shield/pipe into the intake.
- There's some sqeeks inside the cab. Find them and destroy them
- The hood is dented and the paint is cracking a bit
- The grill has come loose on the driver side
- The front bumper paint is .... not happy looking.
- There's no bloody cup holder. Must fix this by adding a new center console?

Background
I've played with fiberglass when I put video in my glove box in my '88 mazda 323 GT. I thought I would try making a sub box in the truck before I start doing more fiberglass to my main car.

The Big Plan
- Fiberglass my first sub box, amp rack and door speakers.
- Change seats or redo the interior
- Add a video screen somewhere.
- Add power windows
- Work on the trucks paint (mainly the hood)

Equipment List
Current:
- Koss mp3 CD head unit (I couldn't handle the tape deck)
- s45 boston acoustics dash speakers

To include:
- Alpine DVD Head unit (Haven't decided which one yet)
- s45 Boston Acoustics dash speakers
- s6 bostons in the door panels or kick panel
- Tweeters either in a fiberglassed pod or find something else to do with it
- s5 bostons behind the seats in the stock speaker location
- 10" Boston sub
- Alpine v12 amp powering it all
- 7" Video screen fiberglassed somewhere in the dash/glove box.

Goal of this project:Z
- Learn about fiberglassed sub boxes
- Get comfortable with working in fiberglass
- Learn about soundproofing
- Learn how to do a nice door panel
- Make a lower end stereo look and sound good.

I have pictures somewhere I just have to find them. Then I will document each step as I go through them. I always like looking at other peoples installs so I figure there must be others like me.

I hope you enjoy.

Kudos PurrNak, this'll be interesting to follow.

Good luck with all your efforts! Post pictures when possible.

I too, am going to attempt my first fibreglass work in a few months. Just going to encase a sealed enclosure I made, simply to determine if I can do fibreglassing or not.
