Was thumbing through a magazine today, saw these, thought "woah... be ultra cool to put in a vehicle somehow..."

The product ^ is a low freq product (<500 Hz)

Pioneer had that thing right about when Aura was marketing their bass shakers. They made a 'Pro' version which took more wattage and had funky fins on it. Alpine slapped their stickers on the Pro units as well and called them Bass Engines.

The difference was it has a brain...
Bass shakers shake, that's all. These things had a brain that, if say there is a plane flying across the movie screen, the four shaker things (one on each couch/chair leg) reflected that... the rumble is directional.
Like I said, they're shakers just taken to the "next level".
I'd like to get my hands on some old-school shakers for the van... That'd be cool.

It doesn't do front-back, it does left-right.
That can be acomplished with any bass shaker. Just hook one to the left output, and one to the right output. But one under the left side of the couch, and one under th right side of the couch.
If you wanted to do front to back you would need to hook a shaker to the front outputs and a shaker to the suround outputs. Hopefully the suround outputs are not affected by the processors bass managment (unless of course you run your rears full range).
Could get interesting with four shakers....
I have havn't tried bass shakers in my car, but in my home I felt that for music it collapsed the soundstage and screwed up the imaging. Howver in the car it could help to bring the bass out of the trunk!
For Home theater I loved it.
