Battery

ok soo i have been doing some reading, and it looks like i will need a second battery.

The only problem is that i dont know what kind of battery i will need. i have a 2000 chevy cavalier z24(LD9 engine)

Thanks

Well you should always match batteries age and type/model/brand, so I'd recommend getting a couple new batteries, brand and model is up to you, how much power are you using?

Father Yuli 03-04-2008 12:47 AM

what he said ^^^ you need a pair of new, identical batteries. individually, they can be smaller than the factory battery, when you combine them together is what matters. many people go out and get two batteries of the same or bigger size than factory and waste money. if you are not killing it on amp power you dont need to kill it on the batteries. dont buy much more battery power than you need.

with extra money you save you can upgrade your power and ground wires, etc.

PS. I bet 3 cents that someone will mention something about the Big 3 in this thread.

Sunny_Tk 03-04-2008 07:08 AM

well i would be running 2x 600rms subs. I got my battery from crappy tire, so i should go and get another one the exact same?

BTW: in a setup like this, would a 2 farad cap help? im not really looking foward to taking off my alternator to upgrade it

Father Yuli 03-04-2008 10:46 AM

dont get caps. get batteries and good, big wire.

RustyWCA 03-04-2008 10:47 AM

Oh and don't forget the big three. The big three are the 3 biggest threes you can do. You need to do all three, and do them big. BIG THREE.

^LOL, ok i got it! thanks for the help guys

one more thing though... anybody know where to get your alternator rebuilt for more amps?

(leads to another question)

how many amps would i need to safely run this system?

FusionMadsen 03-04-2008 04:14 PM

Don't bother, you don't need it.

Sunny_Tk 03-05-2008 06:25 AM
