I am looking for what you guys think in your experiences are the best 6.5" driver for around $300-$350.
This could be a component set... or just a pair of drivers. The reason I say this is because I have 4" Alpine Type-S coaxials in my dash that are highpassed, so they are acting as my tweets pretty much. This is going in the door of a 4runner, and I listen to almost ALL types of music. Hip-hop is probably 65% of that, but I do listen to metal, alternative, classical, electronic and anything else that tickles my fancy. Thanks guys, youve all been a big help in the last few weeks. |
What frequency range do you plan on using it?
That is a formidable budget, you can get VERY good drivers for that. Adam |
frequency?
Oh man... Im a newbie, sorry for not mentioning. I have no idea... I would like it to play all of my midrange if that is possible. I have two 10's in the back (in the future this will be upgraded to.. well Im not sure yet) and I want to fill in the gap between high end and bass now. |
if your spending that kinda cash, i would make sure that you get them installed correctly. i.e. sound deaden the doors, seal them off etc.
|
Yah I was gonna do that when the time comes.
I will most likely be posting a thread about that sooner or later :D lol |
I run the Alpine Type S 4" Coaxials in the front of my 93 Toyota p/u and to balance I run the Type R 6.5" Coaxials in the rear. The soft dome tweeter is very smooth and is very ambient.
The SPR174A Alpine Type R 6.5" Coaxials retail at $299.99. Only issue is that they are very deep and the basket is beefy. Some modification of the rear enclosure may be needed. |
hmmm
the doors in my truck are pretty shallow. Not sure if that would work... I maybe could, but ide have to get my door panels chopped up a bit maybe... which I want to do anyways, but its just more cash I gotta save and then drop on it. |
whp up a spacer plate. Should take less than 5 minutes.
|
would it be hard to make a spacer that would angle it up and in... in other words, more at the people listening to the sound ??
Maybe make the spacer bigger on one side so it makes the speaker sit titlted. Have you ever done this, or seen it before? Any other way? Any tips on making a spacer plate look nice too... ? |
Something like this would work: http://www.freepichosting.com/Thumbs...7600/126/1.jpg
