Best bang for your buck for $600 Set-up

Hello
I'm new to car audio and i want to get into it. I'm looking for suggestions for a Head Unit - Subs, two 10"s or 12"s -and an amp or amps. what kind of set-up would be good to start with?
I do have a shop and they can order stuff in but they don't have much there for me to demo.. also if there is a good to order online i can do that too.

Thanks for the help

**edit

k I'm getting my stuff some time this next week and i haven't decided what to get... any help?

Lots to choose from, what kind of vehicle is this going into? After a good starter setup by the looks of your post.

keeep in mind that along with the amp, subs, and head unit, youll be needing a box to house the subs or youll neeed to build one, as well as needing a wiring kit....

onslaught 05-11-2007 05:56 PM

i can build my own box and I'll just add the wire cost to the total.. not sure how wiring costs though.. $100?

hott-nix 05-11-2007 07:02 PM

you can get the proper wiring for less than $100 if you look around
mach 5 makes an awesome sub for a fantastic price. you could always start with a pair of thier 10's. it would cost a little over $100 and with $500 left, you could buy a decent amp to power them and the wiring you will need, not to mention the supplies to build your box.

another option i was looking at is.

DEHP390MP - Pioneer Premiere cd player with sub out
GM7300 - Pioneeer mono subwoofer amplifier
TSW126C - Pioneer Premiere 12" (x2)

how would this fair against the two mach 5 10"s? and if i go with the two mach 5's what amp and HU would you recommend?

hott-nix 05-11-2007 08:56 PM

well, dollar for dollar you can get two mach 5's for the price you are going to spend on one premier. for a few $$ more than the 10's you can get the mach 5 12's if thats what you are after. either way, you will spend alot less for mach 5's then the pioneers and IMO have a far better quality product. a friend has a pair of those premiers and i would take a mach 5 over them any day.

with the cash you would save from going mach 5, step your head unit up to the DEH-P4900IB. it's not premier, but you'll get alot more features including built in front and rear crossovers. as for the amp, any amp that does at least 500w rms will be plenty. that premier is only rated at 360rms at 2 ohms, it's got enough power, but not the ideal amount for two subs. (even if you get the premiers)

just my $0.02

The Orion WCC stuff is good and really well priced for a starter system. You can get a really good set up for around $600.00
