you can build yourself an amazing set of speakers for under 1000$. if you will be using electronic x-overs( the best imo) than the skill to design and build a passive isnt a factor. you can buy speakers by seas, scanspeak, eton, morel and many other raw speakers that you can build some crazy **** for under a grand

Canton used build drivers for Quart, not the other way around.
The Canton metal dome is nice, so is the B&W (but it's a home tweet).
My FNX tweets on the other hand are a silk dome and could delaminate glass with enuf power
I prefer to listen to a tweeter before I decide if it is harsh or not.

I REALLY like the JL comp sets, they are very good at their price point and are volumerific! I also like the Image Dynamics stuff, the Diamond comps are good and both are musical and accurate. I like the mids from the Alpines mentioned (piano sounds like piano).
