I haven't used those but I stuck an MTX shallow 10 in a rediculously small sealed prefab under the back seat of a Chevy extend cab off 2channels of a 50x4 and was surprised at the output! It worked very well.

I have played with 5, Clarion (sucked a$$), Earthquake (sucked a$$ even worse), AVI (was good), Pioneer Premiere (are surprising for the $) and Kenwood Excelon (which are outstanding). I have the new MB Quart in stock now as well, nice but they are going to be a far cry from the Excelon's for sure.

heard great things about

Heard that the Kenwood Excelon sounds better than the JL, and this is coming from a JL dealer. (and kenwood as well.)

Try chatting with Joe at Ultra.

I have heard and like the Pioneer Premier, and the Aliante (horrible QC and $$$$) but when right one of the very best ... mine has voice coil rub and it still sounds great in the sub bass region (but the voice coil makes a fuzziness in the mid-bass region)
I have heard good things about the JL, Memphis and may have heard them in SQ competitors cars but I don't ask what equipment they run.
I am looking forward to hearing the Stereo Integrity BM series when it arrives

Of the ones i have heard, the kenwood had the best output. The one that on paper should have much more is the JL. Larger cone and longer xmax usually have something to do with output capabilities. But when you can buy 2 kenwoods for one JL..... uh oh. But the mounting depth on the kenwood is much deeper than the jl.
