best sub for my money amp-kx1500.1

hi everyone im new to your forum and was just wondering what the best sub for me would be. ive had my fair share of subs in my day and am tired of running lower rms subs. i recently just bought a a kicker zx1500.1 amp which is rated at 1500 rms at 2 ohms. i want something that will give me a nice tight bass but i want it also to be very punchy i want something that i can feel throught my body yet give be able to handle low hz i was kind of looking at the kicker l7s or maybe the alpine type-x's. any opinions will help alot thanks guys

oh yeah. i want 2 12's

A pair of DD3512's in a nice dog house should do the trick. Proven design, proven performance.

Port low for sure. I like the idea of 2 dd 3512's. Never heard them personally, but I've never heard a bad thing about them. The kickers don't sound that good (the sq on my 15L5's sucked), and the type x's are wicked sealed but not super loud.

i think he means sub box. haha ive been doing some research and the dd3512's sound pretty nice im just curios on how much a pair of those would run me?

Dog house = 5 cubic foot box + 120sq." of port face = stupid bass response that you are looking for. PM for pricing info please.

the type x is dual 4 ohm. so, one of those amps on each would make a pair sound great. Kinda pricey.

I'd go for a pair of the dual 2 ohm L7's. 2 ohm final load, 750 rmas each, just what they're rated for. and for 184.00 U.S. each, you'll have a hard time beating them. 68.00 for a cheappy box and you're good to go while you have a real custom box made.

lol @ dog house

alpine >> kicker

type Xs might cost a bit more then $184 us each thou

the type x and kicker are in two diff. catagories, the type x is a SQ sub and a kicker is more SPL...for the money you pay check out www.ficaraudio.com they have some solid subs and arnt pricey at all...i would prolly recomend the Fi Q for what you want, as for the size go with as large as you can with the air space you have...

s_mooj 02-06-2007 02:36 PM

well im not really sure on the air space. its being thrown into the trunk of a 98 grand prix. ive been doing alot of reading and i want a sub that kind of fits into both classes. SQ is just as important to me as SPL is there a sub that gives me the best of both worlds?

You may also want to look at TC Sounds subs. But I don't think there's anyone who sells them in Canada.

I'd go with something like a RE SX 12" and it would be great.
as for a GP trunk i ran 3.5cu/ft ported in it and had LOTS of room left (half the trunk) so i'm sure u could do a 4cu/ft ported box or even a tad larger depending.

Tom.F.1 02-06-2007 04:48 PM

sx12 is about 400 us
type x 12 300 us
l7 is 184 us

all go for around 500 bucks in canada. make sense to you?

Cleric780 02-06-2007 10:53 PM

not alot of people are running ma audio stuff cause its hard to come by in canada..but i am runnin 3 ma audio 12's and they r tight they keep up with 12s..and they through 140 spl at 45 hz with a 900 watt amp...they r in a 3 qubic foot sealed single chamber box so 1 foot per sub..tight and loud..the ma audio subs sound the best of all my systems and cheaper than any alpine kicker or jl sub...woth lookin into
