What I'm trying to get across to user's is that right out of the box the charging system may work to its full potential but after a couple months on the road corrosion starts to deminish its performance.
Therefore many would be wise to replace these wires with better ones. Just cleaning the connections may not suffice.
If you want to call this failing then so be it but suffice it to say corrosion is going to happen and as a result a less than 100% electrical system.
That's why I say even if it's stock you may be best to replace all three wires. What's another $10-15 anyways?

hey whats up Dukk? u seem to be a ford family haha. off the topic, what years your wifes probe? 1st or 2nd generation? my brothers also got a stang gt but its pretty old, but their the models sought after around where i live. its an '85, i beleive its the last year before fuel injected cam in. not sure though. anyway the car gives you a good case of whiplash.

anyway, when u say ur battery charge lead was gone, do u mean the alternator to positive wire on the battery?

when i do mine, im just gonna clean the connections of the stock wires, leave them there, and just add more 1 or 4 guage to it. you think 4 guage is enough? although ill probably try 1 guage.

Lightbulb

Performing this upgrade will certainly never hurt. IMO the most important is the battery to body upgrade but if I'm in there doing that I tend to just do all 3.
