I dont know how many people out there are running alpine 9835 or similar decks, but upgrading the power wires was the best thing i have ever done. I went with 10 gauge , and that might be overkill but whatever. After the upgrade my subs hit SO much harder and everything sounds so clean even at high volumes. I recommend it to anyone that is running off stock harness, i think it was the best sound quality upgrade i have ever done.

I'm goin with 4 gauge when I put mine in

Umm, what? Are you seriously saying that your subs hit harder after you ran 10g to the deck?

I guess if I run 4/0 to my deck I should break 190 db

i never uses stock harness. they sucks cause the wires way to small. i ran mine 8 guages power wire from batt to deck. btw its an alpine deck.

lol um yeah....interesting to say the least.

I believe Alpine decks say right on them that you are supposed to use 10 guage wire directly to the battery do they not? And also not to use the factory ground.

And I agree, it does make a difference.

newb, you are supposed to increase the guage of wire for the constant lead on every alpine vdrive deck. most factory constant lead are inadequate for the amount of current draw the alpne v drives are capable of. the increase in voltage to the deck can help with lo level voltage linearity, in other words more current in, more current out. so it is very likley that if the guage wire was inadeqaute, and therefore not the right amount of voltage was getting to the deck, once the correct amount voltage was given, the output voltage would increase, very likley increasing the output from amplifiers getting signal from the cd player. this isnt unique to alpine, eclipse recommends you do somthing similar with their head units, or at least they used to. the wire upgrade is the most significant if the amp in the v drive cd player is being used, if it isnt, the upgrade typically isnt needed. so no smoke an mirrors, the sound difference he noticed is very real and he isnt the first person here to ever post about it

right now i am using my factory harness, but i am not using the internal amplifier. Will it make a difference if i run the wire from the deck(atleast 10awg) to the battery? will i notice a difference or is that just for anyone using the internal amplifier?

if the lights on your cd player dim at all, upgrade the wire
