Bikini's and Car Audio

This topic came up in another post started by Matt in the Double Point Db Drag; Bikini contest and Db Drag events!
Personaly I have no problem with this, but others had differening opinions. I can say that I like bikini contests, and the contestants, but after reading the post(s) I started thinking about it~ On one hand it can break up a somber Db drag with some hooting and holaring, and all us guys love the T&A and the hotties, but, on the other hand, who is really gonna go to a Db drag, just to see some taa-taa's, and more importantly is anyone gonna buy anything just cuz a shop holds these kinds of events or competitions, 'cuz the girls aren't selling or promoting any of the shops products or accesories, just the shop and themselves. Now dont get me wrong I love seeing the girls and if promoted properly, can bring alot of new buisesness to the shop, but would it or will it prevent females from going to the show, or even worse, from buying car audio? Thats the million dollar question.
I see it kinda like an intermission, a well needed break from hearing burp after burp. I dunno. As you can see im kinda on the fence here, it wouldn't make me go to a drag event, but it wouldn't stop me either, and when its happening, im happy, so I geuss they have a purpose, Dont they???????

Yes it made sense [img]smile.gif[/img] . From my point of view it wouldn't stop me from competing if that's what I wanted to do. I am not an uptight kind of girl and it dosn't offend me in the least, but I guess I can see why some ladies wouldn't like it, still I don't think it would stop them from getting into car audio [img]graemlins/dunno.gif[/img] I couldn't see a girl who really likes this hobby to say "well I'm not getting involved because of the T&A at shows"

it doesn't affect me at a show if there are half naked ladies walking around showing it off. but usually i'm at the car making sure that some doesn't key the car, or change the setting or something like that. We watch the car carefully and also make sure that everyone that comes up to the car gets a fiendly reception and goes away knowing ajust a little bit more. we come out to show the car off, and we rarely have time to do anything but. However, i do hate this. I open up a magazine and get page after page of girls in bikinis showing off product. Personally i don't like that cause i pay the money to read about the product and see the installs. if i wanted to see a naked girl i'd go out and get one. sex sells but it sells to those who easily distracted. If your focused, it pesters rather than entertains. so you can draw a conclusion from that.

I don't have a problem with the Bikini contests.
I do have a problem with how they are run and the "ladies" stripping on stage. If I wanted to see a strip act, I would go to a strip joint.
Our events have become more family oriented and there are often children and they really don't need to be exposed to all that just yet.
When I first got involved in car audio, the contests usually consisted of car audio ladies and those were fun.
Now, it seems the contestants are professionals who do it just for the money, and they get more money showing their T&A than we do winning a competition.
I was looking at Car Sound & Performance magazine. Many of the adds have a female with various degrees of cover. I guess the companies have decided that sex sells. Heck, it always has. Oldest profession, right? I often wonder just what we are selling and if we are selling out.
Just my thoughts.
