I agree with Alma on this one (and long time no see by the way).
More and more of the competitors from a few years ago now have familys they bring to events, and I hear more and more about these "bikini" contests turning into a stripfest. It's not acceptable and not really necesary.

i think that what starts things like this....from the retailers point of view anyway. is that, at a long show there needs to be something to break up the day. for those of you who were there, remember being in the sun for 7 hours straight at the Car Salon??? our original intention was to have a Hooters Bikini contest in conjunction with that show. the idea has different intentions for everyone who throws these events. first, and i'll say sorry to all the ladies on board in advance, even with the recent explosion of awesome female competition this is still a predominately male pastime....nuff said.
it's a catch 22 for the organizers to try to please everyone all the time. that balancing act had my blood pressure rising through the roof trying to make it work. in the end to try to keep it as family oriented as possible we dropped the contest. for my .02 the only prob i see at any of these events, which center around cars, is the plethora of beer gardens. now anyone who knows me will tell you that i like better than anyone but there is a time and a place for it, and don't think it's around cars.

I don't find it offensive at all to see the bikini girls and it hasn't put me off competing for the past 5 years. HOWEVER I do agree that SQ comps and db dragging have become way more family oriented and the kids don't need to see it. And why is it always bikini girls, why don't you see the guys walking around in speedos?

Women in bikinis is good thing...but not at a car audio event. It really has nothing to do with car audio. What are we trying say to the youth that attend these events? Let's take the high road folks...
If you want to check out chicks in bikinis...go to the beach.
