Boston G5 10" - who has them?

Seriously need to find one of these woofers.
Who carries this brand in S.W Ontario? I'll buy it tomorrow, cash. Those priced on various audio sites range between $200-$300 USD. Hoping to stay under $350, all in.

Just watched a few videos on Youtube and read umpteen reviews...
The DVC 4 ohm model it what I need. Wired down to 2 ohm for the 500W it'll get from our DLS Ultimate amplifier. The other great thing about this sub is its relatively small vented enclosure size, at 1.3 cubes. It'll be going into a small Hyundai Accent, so space is at a premium.

Who can steer me in the right direction?

Thanks guys.

Called the rep, he will get back to me on pricing. $350.00 all in CDN is going to be damned hard to do. Boston is very particular with their products, shipped from the US is going to be a killer due to weight alone. I will pm you with a quote when I have it.

That's why it may be better if I find one locally. But, see what you're rep tells you.

Thanks, Yuli. Those are the numbers I keep seeing, too. Makes me believe that spending $350 at a local retailer isn't too far out of the realm of possibility. Hell, I was prepared to save up for the more expensive JL 10W6, but the G5 sounds like more bang for the buck.

Hey Yuli, I read up a little on your TF Ones. What's the likelihood that they'll make an SQ sub? Something that doesn't need such a high amount of power, like 500WRMS instead of 1500WRMS (what I saw on the 10"). The philosophy could remain the same, a relatively inexpensive sub since you're not paying for design features that have no bearing on the machine's ability to produce sound.

I would have considered one, if the price was right. I know that's not the direction the TF is aimed...

I would not get a single 10" anything. I think 4boysss has 12" IDMAX's on sale.

Tragic, the issue is that not many people really care for a pure SQ sub. And those that do would buy the real SQ stuff.

The shop in town I've been going to can get Boston, though he doesn't carry a lot of it in stock. While finding out what he'd sell one for, he said that getting a Hertz Hi-Energy sub would be a less expensive option, that'll sound just as good. However, the RMS on the Boston G5 is 450W, while the Hertz HX 300 D is 600W. Our amp will put out 500W at 2 ohms. Which sub will theoretically perform best with that much power.

Thanks guys.

The Hertz fits in a smaller ported box (1.23 cubes) vs the Boston (2.0) and the 600 watts vs 500 watts won't make a big difference. I've never heard the Hertz, but I've heard Bostons for years and they are very good. Hertz is a good brand though, and as most SQ people know, any good brand subwoofer will do the job if it's properly set up. Subwoofer SPL is a different story, but SQ can be had from the lowest model to highest as long as you're realistic in what you expect. Unfortunately, until you have been around car audio and the different brands and models long enough to know their sound signature, there's no way to tell you if you would like one better than the other. That's where personal preference comes into play, and why there are 1000 different brands and models of subwoofers.
