It could also depend on the sub(s) you are running them with, and what impedance they are presenting to the amp

the birth sheet says 351@ 2 Ohm, box outside says 900 watts...has nothing to do with the subs at this point.

Even if he was trying to run a pair of 12W7's?

not looking for a pissing match here but it doesn't matter if he's planning to run 14 of the JL 13w7's at this point, he hasn't told us or asked us about subs of any type. He's just asking about the discrepancy between marketing and reality of that particular amp, and feeling screwed by it.

if it has a birthsheet rated for 351@2-Ohm then chances are thats the lowest impedance it can safely operate at so lower impedances (like 1.5 in your example) become irrelevant.

If the OP has of asked why his subs don't seem to be getting the 900 watts advertised, then we can jump all over the impedance of the subs suggestions.

Not looking for a pissing match either. I was referring to Z's comments about the RF amp being weak (off topic now I apologize to the OP)

Ok guys calm down. LOL. My box is half a cubic foot, ported aspenite box with a 10" JBL sub that has been placed upside down. Its brached to the sub. But maybe its beause I branched it wrong. I'm still pretty new to all this....

you bought a 300w amp. return it and get your money back if you can

Haunz 12-27-2007 08:37 AM

^ Agreed.. if you bought it at a retail store you should be able to return it...

Also .5 cubes sounds pretty small for a ported box ?!

Toddyboy 12-27-2007 10:42 AM

And aspenite no way build a new box to proper spec using MDF

ya, I'm going to have to return it, the sub I have is a 10" Infinity Perfect sub, I can not remember exactly how many watts it can handle, I have been trying to look it up, but I believe it can handle just over 1000w, so a little peice of 300w amp won't really do the trick
