Box for an Old school Vega
#1
I have an Old school Cerwin Vega 10" (paper cone ) and I have a 1 cube box to put it into. (The box is 12.5" x 12.5" x 13.5" internal, but I figure that after displacement it will be one cube.)
Would I be better off porting that box or sealing it. I don't want to port it and have it tuned to something stupid like 50 hz. I suppose I am looking for the smoothest response and getting the most Low end that I can with the box.
If porting, how long? I will be using a 3" port.
Thanks

Which Vega is it ? I've noticed that the lower-end Vegas (i.e. Cerwin-Vega Stealths) tend to sound and do a lot better in small ported enclosures tuned in the mid-30s ...
They also usually have a very high EBP ...
What model do you have ?

It is not a stealth. It is not even car audio. It came out of a tower - 250 SE; 125 watts. It was vented in that tower, but that tower was 2+ cubes. I have a feeling that Dukk is right about sealing it.
Thanks.
Dukk - thanks for the e-mail. Solen has a much better price for what looks like to be the exact same amp.
