Boxing Day - what was youre best purchase
#21
The best thing I spent was time with my grandma, parents, sisters, and their significant others. had a great day, opened presents, ate turkey, and chilled out.
No way in HELL that I'm going shopping on boxing day.

My family all went out to fight the army of shoppers. I handed him $50, and asked if he could pick up a router at Staples for me.
We did the Toronto boxing day thing last year. We left here at 2 am to make it to Toronto by 6 am. Then waited in line for Best Buy to open. No way am I doing that again!

I am real impressed with all the bashing of FS. Of course their are going to be some door crasher specials. But for the most part it was good up to date gear for sale. We had sweet deals on Pioneer 7600's, JVC KDG700's, and Sony CDX 2000's for head units and only one off brand piece of crap. There were some great deals on Pioneer W255 and 305 subs. And some amps were very well priced, for example the MTX MXA 6001 was $100 off.
Now if it were up to me I would like to see all stores across Canada closed on boxing day. The sales would just move to the 27th and everyone would just spend the time with their family instead of getting up at 4 am to be at work for 5.
Really, I will tell you who's fault it is that big box stores are open at 6 am and sell alot of crap on boxing day. The consumers. They are the ones who demand this, the stores are just giving consumers what they demand, so to all you people buying crap at 6 am, thanks alot losers

Well......once I finally got my butt out of bed (first boxing day in 15 years I didn't have to work) I called my buddy at FS, got him to run up front and grab me the $49 DVD burner and $34 100 pack of DVDrs. Then I drove out to the store at about noon, paid for them in the bay and left
Didn't want to give the money to FS but no one else had them that cheap. (I feel bad inside for giving money to FS now)

Ah yes. Boxing day. I didn't buy anything as I was working.
My opinion on door crashers is if the lemmings want to stomp over eachother for a $40 offshore DVD player when you can buy them new every day of the year for under a hundred then that's their idiocy.
The two best deals I saw yesterday: CanTire had their big router bit set on for $79, regularly $249 and FS had a big Sony TV on for well below cost at $2999, regularly $4499 IIRC.
In summary, the retailers don't force people to buy and if they want to wander aimlessly through a store and make rash uninformed choices then it's their own damn fault

^ ah yes the Just looking!
I remember one year when a customer said that. I responded by offering my name tag to him "there you are sir, put this on and you can not only look but sell too." That way I can go and get a deal on something.
