Just to set the record straight !! AVI is not made in Canada - it is however assembled in Canada (thats why they are allowed to say Made In Canada on the box). Actually made somewhere in Asia (China/Taiwan/????)

Not that this is any way a bad thing - just to point out that there is a differance between "made" and "assembled".

AVI is an excellent product - no question !!

But as far as Tim is concerned......I dont think that you should be asking for peoples opinions on brands.......because, as you can see from all the above, that everyone has a favourite brand, different opinions of certain ones over others. Tim's been around long enough to know what brands are good !!

Tim if your'e looking at carrying the popular brands (well known name), I think it's a mistake !! Most of the "independant" stores that have been successful have sometimes gone out on a limb with brands that no-one has heard of, or very little knowledge of. And being that your'e not going to have the advertising budget of a FS or A&B Sound - people aren't gonna come and see you because you have Brand "x" - they're coming to see you because of "you".

You should carry a brand that is of course reliable - good quality - profitable and more important "exclusive" or semi exclusive.

All the brands you asked for opinions on are great brands - I really dont think that one is better than the other.
"TIM" is the brand you should be concerned about - and your clientel will trust you to sell them quality gear - whether it's Sony / Alpine / AVI / MB Quart .........whatever !!
They're coming for the quality install first - the brands you carry will develop with you.

Whats happening anyway ?? PM me and let me know !!

Given the initial question and the 4 brands involved:
As a US consumer I have little to comment on, I have only heard the Bostons and the Quart and of the two I lean towards the Boston from a purely SQ point of view

As a shop owner: Quart hands down: solid backing, consumers know the name, you can put together a top notch system with it, even inexpensive comp sets will make the boom boom crowd happy because the HF stands up to the big bass systems.

Personally I want to hear the AVI and the Macrom they have piqued my interest. I think the lesser known brands will bring in a few customers if they can beat the competition at their price point. It really does come down to price doesnt it.

Well said Grant, up until I saw your post ,I was thinking the same thing. We had "un-recognized" brands, yet mid to high end, and all it took was a listen.
There are hundreds of brands out there, and the list seems to be growing, keep in mind that your selection will change over the course of time, and as long as you stay focused, with not too many brands (show your tonal signature), it won't be hard to sell anything you're confident of (including TIM).

"Macrom left my shopping list when they discontinued the "Made by Morel UK" speakers"

Just so you know Macrom was Morel Israel, Morel was a home audio company only, there car audio line was always called Macrom. There are not many company’s out there that compete directly with Focal, in Europe they’re our main computation, some countries we are larger then they are, others not so much. So you know Macrom sold 100 Million dollars last year, (without our Market) if you think this is a company that will leave you hanging or won’t spend the time to support the market your wrong. They have been doing this for 30 + years and continue still to grow.

Hey Tim you’ve had my answers, anyone who needs anymore info please PM me, I will not take up anymore space on this topic.
